Tire Boy is an open-world action-adventure platformer that's about being fast and nimble. Players get to leap across lush environments, solve environmental puzzles, and take on heroic battles.
The game has players launch from air gusts and bounce off giant mushrooms. They can even roll down ramps to reach new heights. Players need to master momentum and timing especially if they want to access those seemingly impossible locations. As they navigate between towns and biomes, there's the chance to discover shortcuts and secret passages along the way.
Tire Boy has players adapt to different terrains through the use of specialized tire upgrades. For example, they can make use of spike treads for icy paths in the winter biome or a wide sand tire for riverbanks. One interesting item is the flower glider which when obtained, can let players soar across valleys and even discover hidden areas. By the way, there are some upgrades that not only change the look but transform how players interact with the world around them.
As they travel across the various towns and biomes, players can discover dozens of unique weapons and items. Those able to complete side quests get the chance to earn special gear that reflects their personal playstyle.
Experience the World
The game has players experience the island from the unique perspective of Tire Boy. That's because everything towers above them on a magnificent scale. However, it allows for new experiences. Giant mushrooms for example become trampolines while ordinary slopes transform into thrilling rampways. Indeed, the landscape is full of natural wonders and there are hidden treasures simply waiting to be discovered by those who venture off the beaten path.
A Story
While the game appears simple, there’s actually an interesting story. It seems Tire Boy may be the last of his kind and was lost as a child. At the start of the game, players learn that he was found and raised by a large owl named Nestwijk.
The story is mainly about connection and curiosity as Tire Boy goes on a journey across a vast and unfamiliar world as he searches for purpose and traces of his forgotten origins.
