Little Legendary announced that a Kickstarter campaign for SHADE Protocol is slated to launch on June 4. This 2D cyber-fantasy Metroidvania is a game where music, code, and combat collide.
SHADE Protocol is a game that’s all about precision combat, fluid mobility, and an intricate narrative. It’s set in the dying world that’s been overtaken by Elythium, a sentient metal that has turned against the world.
Players take on the role of Zura, a prototype Replica that can recompile reality. As the last hope for humanity and free-willed machines, she now has to navigate the ruins of civilization, master lost technologies, and defy an enemy that has rewritten the fabric of existence itself.
In the game, players can seamlessly switch between DAWN and SHADE modes. This changes the combat styles and gameplay dynamics. Players are able to wield Instruments, which are powerful code-based weaponry inspired by music and each serving a unique role in battle and exploration. Players also engage in high-speed, skill-based combat, parrying and countering enemies in a world that demands mastery.
Collect Instruments
One key feature of the game are Instruments. These are powerful tools based on music and code. Each one can change how Zura fights, moves, explores, and interacts with the world. Throughout their journey, players can collect an orchestra of Instruments that evolve. This lets them unlock new ways to bend the rules of the world around them.
Each Instrument expands what Zura can do. As such, players can use them in creative ways to alter the environment, open hidden paths, reach places they couldn't access before, and return to earlier areas with new ways to explore.
Key Features
One of the features of the game is the UNISON System, which lets players rewrite reality. Since the world of SHADE Protocol exists as code, they can use this system to manipulate events, relive key moments, and choose their ultimate outcome, shaping the fate of entire factions.
Meanwhile, the dynamic combat system offers a mix precision of melee combat with specialized Instruments. It allows players to execute devastating combos, parries, and counters. By swapping between DAWN and SHADE modes, they can adapt to different playstyles in real-time.
Finally, there's the unique defensive mechanics. By perfectly timing parries and counters, it results in Echo being restored. Echo serves as a vital energy source for powerful Instrument attacks and defensive maneuvers.
